Bring your collection into MasterThis

Import a collection from screenshots, a PDF, pasted text, a saved page or a CSV, check every match, and undo if needed.

By MasterThis Published

You can bring an existing collection into MasterThis from screenshots, a full-page PDF, pasted text, a saved web page or a CSV file. No paid export from another app is needed. This guide walks through each step and its limits.

Before you start

  • Importing needs a MasterThis account. Signed out, the import page asks you to sign in, and nothing is read until you choose a file or paste text.
  • Screenshots and PDFs are read in your browser. The images are not uploaded.
  • Nothing changes in your collection until the last step, when you confirm the import.

One import holds up to 500 screenshots or PDF pages and 10,000 items. A CSV template is available from Download CSV template; its columns include card name, set, card number, printing, quantity and, for graded cards, grader, grade and cert number.

Cover the whole collection

A screenshot holds only what was on screen, and a saved page holds only the items the page had loaded when it was saved. Scroll through the whole collection and capture every part of it. Overlapping captures are fine: when the same card appears twice, Check matches asks whether it is one item (Same item, count it once) or separate items.

Check matches

Each item is shown beside the catalog card it matched. Matching is strict: the set, number, name and printing must agree, and anything less certain is left for you to decide.

  • Items read from screenshots import only after you confirm them. Use Show on screenshot to compare, then confirm each match, or use Confirm all once you have looked them over.
  • If a match is wrong, use Change match, or Edit what was read when the text was misread.
  • The filters To confirm and Needs a match collect the items that still need you.

Quantities and graded cards

We keep what you already own and add only missing copies. An import fills a shortfall; it does not add on top unless you say so.

Graded cards import as PSA copies, with the grade and an optional cert number. A cert number always means one slab. Cards graded by other companies are listed as Grading company not supported and are not imported. Up to 99 raw copies of one card can be recorded.

Confirm, receipt and undo

Confirm import shows what will be saved. Download import report keeps a copy of every row and its outcome. After saving, the receipt counts what was saved, what was already in your collection and what was not saved.

Undo available for 30 days from Recent imports. Undo import reverses the changes this import made; a card you changed afterward is left alone.

Limits

Text recognition can misread a card, which is why screenshot items wait for your confirmation. Rows marked as sold or wishlist items, and cards in other languages, are not imported. Your wishlists are not changed by an import.
